Why I chose to train with The Institute of Yoga Sports Science®:
I first learned of The Institute of Yoga Sports Science® from Yoga Alliance. In March 2020, I signed up for their workshop "How to Teach Yoga Online Safely and Authentically to Support You and Your Community." I was very impressed with the workshop and with Hayley, and started digging around the YSS website. When I found the 40-hour "Yoga for Athletes" immersion course, I signed up right away; I've always been interested in working specifically with athletes but hadn't found a training to support me in that goal. I realized early on in the program that 40 hours of study wouldn't be enough for me, so I chose to pursue the 200-hour certification. I'm so excited for this experience!
Once I qualify as a Yoga Sports Coach™, I hope to:
I'm a yoga therapist; most of the folks I support have chronic conditions or are recovering from injury. I would love to expand my practice to include athletes who are looking to improve their performance in their chosen sport. Although it seems like a stretch to me right now, it would be phenomenal to work with some of Chicago's professional sports teams as their yoga trainer. There are also a couple of private clubs in the city with competitive CrossFit programs; I'm wondering whether I could incorporate YfA into their training protocols.
